Most people aren’t aware that many of the foods that we humans eat on regular basis can be harmful or even deadly to your dog. These are dangerous dog foods that you should avoid feeding your dog at all times. Even a small amount of certain foods can be toxic and fatal to your furry friend.

* Chocolate – A little bit can cause seizures, coma and death. Even a small piece of chocolate is dangerous. This is typically one of the only foods that people know is bad for dogs. But there are many more.

* Caffeine – Can have a similar effect as chocolate so never give it to your dog. That includes coffee, tea, soda, energy drinks, and anything else containing caffeine.

* Grapes and raisins – These can cause kidney failure and even a single serving of raisins can make your dog very ill or even kill him.

* Salt – Eating too much salt can cause kidney problems and several other problems as well. Death is also a possibility.

* Bread Dough – It needs to rise and if you feed it to your dog it will rise inside his stomach. This can cause severe pain and alcohol poisoning as it ferments.

* Human Medicine – This is one of the leading causes of dog poisoning. Don’t give your dog over the counter medicine unless your vet tells you to. Ibuprofen and acetaminophen can both be deadly when given to a dog.

* Onions – Poisonous to dogs and can cause anemia. This can lead to weakness, loss of appetite, vomiting, difficulty breathing, and more.

* Garlic – Many of the same issues as onions (see above).

* Tomatoes – Hard to believe but these are toxic to dogs. They can cause tremors and heart arrhythmias.

* Avocados – Highly toxic and can cause breathing difficulty and fluid accumulation around the abdomen chest and heart.

* Alcohol – It takes far less beer, liquor, wine or other alcohol to damage a dog that it does a human. Just a small amount can cause vomiting, diarrhea, difficulty breathing, and several other issues including coma or death.

* Bones – If you give your dog bones be sure that they are raw because cooked bones can splinter and damage their internal organs. They can also choke on them, whether they are cooked or not.

* Excessive fat can cause pancreatitis, so it is not wise to feed your dog a diet of fatty foods.

* Fried foods – Just as with humans these are not good for retaining maximum health in your dog.

* Nuts – Certain nuts, such as Macadamia nuts and walnuts can cause weakness, paralysis, rapid heart rate, muscle tremors and other major problems.

* Fruits – The core and pits of fruits such as apples, cherries and peaches contain cyanide, which is poisonous to dogs and can kill them very quickly without warning.

* Raw Eggs – Possibility of food poisoning and interferes with the absorption of some vitamins, which can cause skin problems.

And that’s not all. There are plenty of other foods that can be harmful or fatal to your dog. When in doubt, always refrain from feeding your dog any human foods. Never assume that it will be okay unless you know for certain that it is. Many foods that are safe for humans can kill your dog within hours, even if he’s had them before without any problems.

Remember, if your dog has eaten some of these foods in the past and nothing happened to him that doesn’t mean he will be okay if he eats them again. It’s very possible that you just got lucky the first time and this time your dog could get very sick or even die. All it takes is once for something to go horribly wrong. Don’t take the chance; it’s not worth the risk. Human food is not for dogs — stick to the real dog food and be safe!

On top of all that, even if you aren’t feeding your dog any foods that are directly dangerous, it is still unhealthy for them to eat human food. They can much more easily become overweight and have other health problems from consuming it on a regular basis.

It is very important that you select a dog food that will give your dog the nutrition that it needs. With all the big name brands and high price advertising you get bombarded with every day it can be difficult to determine what the best dog food is for your beloved furry friend.

Most dog food manufacturers make food for specific age ranges of dogs, and the food you buy for an older dog is not usually suitable for a puppy. Proper nutrition is vital to the health of your dog and its happiness, and it is essential that your dog gets all the vitamins and minerals that it needs for a healthy life.

Here’s a list of some of the essential vitamins and minerals that your dog food should have to give your dog a more healthy diet…

Vitamins A, D, E, B-complex, Biotin, Calcium, Choline, Copper, Folic Acid, Iodine, Iron, Magnesium, Niacin, Manganese, Pantothenic Acid, Phosphorus, Potassium, Selenium, Sodium Chloride and Zinc.

Of course, that is not all, but they are certainly ingredients that you should be looking to find in your dogs food. Giving your dog fresh meat with some vegetables and grain included is a healthy natural diet that many dog experts believe is better than anything you can buy from the store.

There are also some excellent ebooks and other information online about making your own dog food where you can be assured that your dog will get all the best ingredients needed for all-around health and nutrition. This can be a cost effective method of feeding your dog without being concerned that the dog might not be receiving all the ingredients it should for a healthy happy life.

One of the best ebooks I have ever found on the subject of dog food is Dog Food Secrets. In it he reveals why you are killing your dog with commercial dog food and how to prevent it.

Also, remember that if your dog has any specific health problems, they need to be addressed when determining what the best food is for your dog. A consultation with your veterinarian or a dog food expert should be done to see if there are any special food requirements your dog needs or determine any problems that certain foods might create for your dog.

Just about everyone has given their dog scraps or food right off their own plate at one time or another. Overall it’s not a good idea, for many reasons, but for the most part it’s not usually too big of a deal. However, sometimes it can be very harmful or even fatal to your dog. After my last post, 5 Foods You Should Never Give Your Dog, you already know you should never feed your dog chocolate, onions, alcohol, caffeine, or raw fish. But there are more foods you should also never feed your dog. In this article I will tell you which ones and why.

Here are five more foods you should never feed your dog, in no particular order:

1) Avocadoes – These contain toxins that are harmful to dogs and can cause heart problems and damage to tissue. They are also high in fat which can upset your dog’s stomach causing vomiting or just making him miserable. The pit of the avocado can also get lodged in your dog’s intestines and surgery may be required to remove it. Remember that guacamole is mainly made of avocadoes so keep your dog away from that too.

2) Bread Dough – The heat in your dog’s stomach will cause the bread dough to rise. This can cause bloating, vomiting, and pain. Alcohol may also be produced during the rising, which is very bad for your dog.

3) Pitted Fruits – A lot of fruits that contain pits have small doses of cyanide, which can be very harmful or fatal to dogs. The pits of these fruits also cause a choking hazard.

4) Grapes – If you dog eats grapes or raisins it is recommended that you seek immediate and aggressive treatment. They can cause diarrhea, vomiting, severe kidney damage, and even death. These are very easy for your dog to ingest so make sure you always keep them out of reach.

5) Macadamia Nuts – The toxins in these nuts is strong enough to have an effect on your dog even if they only eat a small amount of them. They can cause extreme weakness, paralysis of limbs, accelerated heartbeat and tremors.

So there you have 5 more foods you should never feed your dog. Keep these foods away from your dog at all times to avoid an accident. Remember you may think you are being nice to your dog when you feed him “people food” but your dog will be happier and healthier without it.

Even though most of us know that giving our dogs “people food” isn’t a good thing, we still find ourselves sharing our meals with our furry friends all the time. Most of the time doing that isn’t exactly the worst thing we could do (but it’s never good). However, there are some foods that you should never give your dog no matter how bad you want to. This article will address some of the foods you shouldn’t give your dog and why.

Here are five foods you should never give your dog and the reasons for it:

1) Chocolate – This is probably the number one food that you should never give your dog. It’s very toxic to them and can kill them quite easily. Even if they don’t eat enough to kill them, chocolate can cause vomiting and diarrhea. If your dog gets ahold of some chocolate it’s wise to take them to a veterinarian right away.

2) Onions – These cause the breakdown of red blood cells in dogs, deprive them of oxygen and cause anemia. They can also lead to vomiting, diarrhea, weakness and more. The effects of onions can add up over time to make things even worse. So don’t give your dog onions or foods with onions in them.

3) Alcohol – Simply put, alcohol can kill your dog. If it doesn’t do that it can give them alcohol poisoning or put them into a coma. Dogs bodies do not handle alcohol like humans do. It is much worse for dogs even in small doses.

4) Caffeine – Is a stimulant that can make your dogs heartbeat rise to a very dangerous level. This can cause a whole host of problems, including seizures and even death.

5) Raw Fish – Certain types of raw fish can infect your dog a parasite. That actual parasite isn’t so much the problem. However, if that parasite is infected with a certain organism then your dog can be in some real trouble. Without treatment death is nearly certain. Fish is good for dogs but make sure it is cooked.

There you have it, five foods that you should never give your dog. If you find yourself giving in to the urge to feed your best friend the foods you eat just make sure it’s not on the above list.
