I think Jazz is my favorite too! I'm sorry to hear that you have had bad experiences with Pit Bulls. However, almost any type of dog, from the smallest to the biggest and the nicest to the meanest, will chase or kill cats and other animals, including horses. That has nothing to do with the breed. In your case it happened to be Pit Bulls but it just as easily could have been a Golden Retriever, Labrador, Beagle, German Shepherd, or any other dog breed. The kindest, loving, and most gentle dogs will usually not be that way when chasing a cat or another animal. My grandpa had cattle killed by two Yellow Labs but you won't ever hear anyone saying they are a vicious dog breed. It also sounds like those particular pits had bad owners. It's too bad they reacted like that because it does nothing but continue to give the breed a bad name.

First I will say that I cringe at the pit bulls, not because I am ignorant but because I have had bad experiences. We had two down the street that got out and killed my 17 year old cat... but as you implied, its the owners. Their owners reaction was "so what" when he found out. A few days later they got out and into the pasture behind our house and started attacking the horse that is kept there. When we found the owner, who insisted the dogs would never do such a thing, they were kind and loving and gentle.. umm that isn't what I saw!

You however do sound very knowledgeable and caring and responsible. From reading all that you had to say... I am voting for you to adopt Jazz the pit bull.
